Are Watford FC Prepared for The Premier League?

Newly promoted Watford FC haven’t messed around this pre-season and transfer window. With nine new signings and a new manager it is clear the club’s owners, the Pozzo family is putting in a lot of time, effort and money to achieve the club’s aim of survival.

However is it enough? The bookies have made Watford FC favourites to go straight back down and historically the club aren’t known to go up and stay up. With the last two promotions to the Premier League resulting in relegation the next season.

Will it be different this time? Well, in my opinion Watford FC have a better chance of survival this time than they have for a while. With owners who know how to run the club financially and have a good track record at keeping their clubs in the top division, the future looks a little brighter in Hertfordshire. In addition the club have strengthened their squad through signing nine players including Jose Holebas, the left back who was first choice over Ashley Cole for Roma last year and Etienne Capoue, the French international with Premier League experience.

Furthermore, new Watford FC manager Quique Sanchez Flores has managed at some top clubs across Europe, such as Atletico Madrid. He has been praised for being very tactically sound and obviously couldn’t have come this far if he didn’t know what he was doing.

All this and more has lead to optimism amongst Watford FC fans that I certainly didn’t see last time they were in the Premier League.

However, with a new manager, new squad and new formation to get used to its clear the Hornet’s have to adapt quickly. With some winnable games early on there is no time to waste in getting the squad and manager to mould quickly in time for the first game of the season against Everton in less than two weeks. A failure to get used to the new system could prove detrimental to Hornet’s chances this year.

My prediction is Watford FC will finish 16th this year, and in doing so ensure their survival. There is a lot of work still to be done and it will be a long hard season but I think that the club will pull through.

Watford FC fans and fans of the Premier League will undoubtedly have their own opinions on who will survive and who won’t survive this season.

Subsequently, how does my view compare with your own?
