Scuderia Ferrari has officially unveiled their car for the forthcoming Formula One season. The big reveal was streamed online via their website on the February 19, just three days before the first pre-season test in Barcelona.
The new car, dubbed the SF16-H, has many dramatic upgrades compared to the 2015 counterpart. These include a newly redesigned nose cone, tapered rear end and more white added to the bright red livery. The new name SF16-H was chosen for SF to represent Scuderia Ferrari, 16 to represent the year and H represents the Hybrid powertrain, which will run for the third consecutive season.
Ferrari have also released new team portraits of their 2016 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. These show only minor changes to the team uniforms, with more of the Italian flag incorporated around the legs and arms.
Ferrari finished second in the Constructors Championship in 2015 and took three wins over the season. They are hoping that the evolution of the car can provide more competitive results and knock Mercedes out of the top spot.
The first on track action of the new SF16-H will be on the February 22 during the first pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Ferrari will be looking to use this test to gain as much information on the new chassis as possible.
