Sepp Blatter Resigns as FIFA President

This afternoon FIFA called an impromptu meeting – the results of which have seen Sepp Blatter resign from his highly ridiculed position as President within the governing body, which has for years itself been derided for its corruption. What had been murmurs have reached boiling point in the last few weeks as highly placed officials have given themselves up, and been arrested, with regards to corruption within Football’s global governing body. Arguably the most important announcement in World Football was done and dusted within the blink of an eye, with hardly any witnesses. Sepp Blatter resigns as FIFA president.

Sepp Blatter said, at the meeting;

“FIFA’s interest are dear to me. That’s why I have taken this decision. What counts most for me, is the institution of Fifa and football around the world.”

FA Chairman Greg Dyke is delighted, “Something has come out of the events of last week that has caused Mr Blatter to resign … He’s gone. At long last we can sort out FIFA. We can go back to looking at those two World Cups. If I were Qatar right now I wouldn’t be feeling very comfortable.”

Has Sepp Blatter inadvertently put himself in a precarious situation, or is the Swiss man finally ready to be dealt punishment for what he has done. On Friday, Blatter said to Swiss TV; “Why would I step down? That would mean I recognise that I did wrong.”
